Emerald One resident Dennis Whitmer returned to action at the Ranch Thursday and fired a 2 over par 29 to best Port Bolivar’s Mike Comeaux by two shots and sorry putting Mike VanZandt by three. Birdies at #1 and #9 highlighted Comeaux’s round while Whitmer had seven pars and two bogies.
Don’t forget about the golf lessons from Brent Smith. Stop by the course to make arrangements. While you’re at the Ranch, consider donating a few bucks to head golf pro Mike Mitchell’s Golf Swing Relief Fund. Everyone who plays golf has gone through the malady that has sunk Mitchell’s game to new depths. Mitchell’s downfall is attributed to his driver, “Blue Thunder”, which should be resting on the floor of the Gulf of Mexico instead of in Mitchell’s bag.
High Island Seniors are raising money for Project Graduation, a program designed to keep them sober the night they graduate. The theory is that by locking them up and giving them cash and gifts on graduation night, they won’t get out and drive drunk and kill themselves or others. This is a worthwhile project that deserves support from the community. It’s also a tax deductible contribution.
