I had no idea what to expect, just knew that I was so excited. We drove up to Waco in the 40’ RV “Coach” which belongs to my Daughter and Son-In-Law, and we’re pulling the jeep. There were eight of us, 5 adults and 3 children, plenty of room for all. PawPaw began playing Uno with the kids, Kel and I parked ourselves in the two recliners in front of the TV and Leigh and Paul sat up front. Leigh would come back every so often to get snacks for Paul.
BTW, Waco, if you’ve never been, is an adorable little town, home of JoJo and Chip, and Magnolia Village, not to mention a plethora of other quaint little shopping, spend-your-dollars-type-of-places, not to mention Baylor University!
Our Granddaughter, Emma, is a Junior at Baylor, she’s in Theater and the main reason for our travels, to see their production of Matilda, The Musical! Priceless!
We also had the bonfire, homecoming, and a parade. We didn’t make the game (sold out), but we watched it on our outdoor TV around the fire pit.
Of course, we had to go to the local Baylor store to stock up on hoodies, tees, mugs and caps. You can’t have enough …
Back to the camp ground, we had rented a little, I stress little, RV just for me and PawPaw. It had a queen size bed and two bunks. The Grands took turns staying with us Friday and Saturday nights in the bunks. I, being the nit-picky-est person you’ll ever know, brought our own bedding. I mean BEDDING, from the mattress pad, to the sheets, to the comforter, plus our own pillows. I’m so OCD when it comes to stuff like that, I’m almost that bad when it comes to staying at a hotel too. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to have a little RV as long as PawPaw learns how to empty the “gray” and “black” water. I’m too old to have to learn about plumbing an RV at this point…
Friday night, Glamping at its best. Yes, I’m afraid this is not your ordinary camping. Pictured below, is us gathered around the campfire, NOT! Then, we watched the homecoming game between Baylor and Texas Tech – WE WON! (in overtime)
Sunday, finally rolled around, time to head back home. Thank goodness we could find the Astros game to watch. Dang those Astros – Dang those Yankees!
We landed back at our car in League City and unloaded the “Coach,” caught the 10pm ferry, made it home just in time for overtime. Watching inning after inning, Are they ever going to break this tie?
Thank you Carlos! We are ever indebted. Just kidding, you better keep it up! We will forget how well you did!
GO’s Sand Bucket is only one beach bum’s journal of life at the beach, probably something each of you can relate to. Please feel free to email me with your thoughts, visions and/or feelings of just exactly what the beach means to you. Email: [email protected]
