At the beach house, we have plenty of visitors coming and going. Not long after we re-built our house, we added on another bedroom – it’s ours. It’s on the far side of the house. We tell our guests to make themselves at home, there are plenty of beds, clean sheets, clean towels. I only ask one thing, it’s really simple – if you have to sleep on the couch, I’ll put sheets on it.
One Sunday morning, my husband and I awoke and quietly began to get ready for church. We knew we had a house full of kids, who partied the previous night at Ships Wheel. Needless to say, they probably rolled in after 2 am, or sometimes later if they decided to finish their evening on the beach or out on the deck. Well, lo and behold, there’s my son’s best friend, Brandon, sacked out on the couch – no sheets!! He woke up, apologizing profusely and dragged himself off to a bedroom.
Now look, here’s Maezy. This is her bed washing day…you try reasoning with a one year old when it’s time for her morning nap!

GO’s Sand Bucket is only one beach bum’s journal of life at the beach, probably something each of you can relate to. Please feel free to email me with your thoughts, visions and/or feelings of just exactly what the beach means to you.
