The United Methodist Women (UMW) of Bay Vue United Methodist Church served up a BAKESALE BONANZA on Saturday, March 16th. Homemade pies, cakes, and cookies flew off the tables as buyers lined up for scrumptious delectables. Windy weather did not stop folk from shopping and buying the goods. UMC volunteers worked briskly under the leadership of Rita Moseley to fill all orders. Marie Vratis, with help from grandson Aiden, welcomed prospective customers into the parking lot. Sales were from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, and in those two hours, the women collected $1500. WOW!
UMW use their money in myriad ways to help church, community and global ministries. They read with children at Crenshaw School, created blankets for babies and families at UTMB and sewed clothes for needy children in the United States and Africa. Each year they hold either a Back To School or End of School party for children on the peninsula. Their next project is with Beach Ministries.
This group not only does good deeds, but they have a wonderful time serving together. UMW member Sherry Morgan coined the phrase Fun Raiser in place of fund raiser. The sobriquet stuck. Our United Methodist Women enjoyed a fun time at their successful Fun Raiser BAKESALE BONANZA!
