The first day of our travels ended us in Gulf Shores, Alabama, at Gulf State Park. The park is very nice, shaded with beautiful trees and lots of bunnies and birds, just a short car ride to the beautiful blue water of the Gulf of Mexico. The park gives passes for the beach, there’s a really nice pool, and tennis courts. Don’t bother with golf carts – bring your bikes – it is a wonderful way to get around. I have a feeling that I may be making a Wal-Mart purchase before the trip is over.
Our first day was an experience for all of us, including Lil Girl – I’m not sure she is over it yet. Very little rain unlike ya’ll. We stopped in Gulf Port, Mississippi at a Flying J. Did you know if you get there early enough, they have free night parking spots? So Glad! Up the next morning and on our way to Gulf Shores. NO Role Tide!!! Unlike Crystal Beach, the sand is white and the water is clear. Some of our friends from our sailing years have moved here with their sail boats – they call it Seabrook East. In fact, Blue Water Ship Store is still in Foley, Alabama.
The first day, I tried to be good, but after a while I started to read the signs on the 18-wheelers, you see there were no billboards to read. Boy that shows my age! Come to find out, both of us were nervous. Since RR is my pillar of strength, I never thought he might be a little nervous on our first outing. Of course, it took till the third day for me to find that out.
Today has been fun. We just came back from a pub crawl, just a few bars along the sea wall and down to Lulu’s place. Did you see Stephanie’s dinner in a drink on Facebook? Boy, that was one Big Bloody Mary with food sticking out everywhere.
Tomorrow we are off again. Stay tuned.
Hey, Ya’ll need to dry out!
