The More the Merrier

By Georgia Osten
Not to sound selfish or anything, but I won’t mind adding Grands to the family. This weekend, our oldest Grand returned to Texas. And, along with him, he brought his fiancé. She’s a charming, energetic young lady. The talented duo will live in Houston and our Grandson, Eli, will join the Houston Opera. Now, don’t get me wrong, Eli is not a musician, he doesn’t play the violin, cello or harp (although he probably could if he set his mind to it)! Nope, Eli is on the technical side of the performance, Lights & Action. His fiancé, Chyna, is a set designer. Stories of their past accomplishments indicate Chyna can draw anything and take it to Eli, who will build it!

Then, to top it off, our Granddaughter, Addyson, from Florida came in for the weekend to help unpack Eli & Chyna and visit the Grandparents, Aunts & Uncles. We couldn’t wait to join them all for dinner the evening Addyson arrived. A little MOD Pizza and a lot of chatting.

We went to have lunch with them again on Sunday, pulled pork, baked beans and Spring Valley potato salad. Chocolate chip cookies ala-Addyson, of course. Addyson left on Monday to get ready for school later this week.

Speaking of school, it won’t be long … Pretty soon, we’ll have our sleepy little paradise back. My favorite time of the year – Fall! Of course, it’ll take a while for the weather to cool down, but you can count on it to happen no later than Halloween. Yep, all those cute little costumes will require a coat or jacket and earmuffs.

I know I’ll be ready for a little chill in the air, I’ve never put my sweatshirts away. My office stays at 68 degrees, and I have to turn my heater on each day. Many days, it’s necessary to go take a walk outside, just to thaw out.
