The Littles

By Georgia Osten
It’s invitations like this that are always accepted. Parents off on a trip to Colorado with friends, so we were asked to come take care of the Littles. Not so little anymore, but, hey, they’re stuck with the name. Maybe it’ll change when we get some great grands, we’ll see. We made it to Friendswood before the bus brought them home. Coolest neighborhood, the bus delivers them just up the street a bit. The oldest, Pierce, rode his bike home with a friend to play and swim at Jonah’s house. Jonah’s mom delivered Pierce and his bike back home before dark. The younger ones, twins, Riggs & Fisher get to go up the street every Friday to get snow cones. They got PawPaw to ride bikes there with them. A little tricky, but they cross 518 at a stoplight, no problem.

I took that opportunity to go to the neighborhood HEB. What a treat! Extra special because HEB had Plumeria for only $10.97 per tree. Love Plumeria!

After pizza, we all watched the Astros and had Blue Bell ice cream with chocolate syrup.

Saturday, the boys ventured off to Altitude indoor amusement park where the old Fiesta used to be. I took this opportunity to go to Dillards & Sam’s. What a piece of cake to do my shopping close by. These are all my favorite shopping spots, so special because I was so close to all my destinations. Plenty of room to put my stuff, an extra freezer and fridge in the garage of our son’s house.

I had the evening planned with more family who live close. Our Daughter, Leigh, and our son-in-law, Paul. Also invited our grandson, Eli, and his fiancée, Chyna. Not to worry, Chinese ordered for all from 888 Bistro. Chyna brought dessert, good thing, I totally forgot dessert. Everyone showed up around 5:30 and the food was delivered by 6:00.

What a perfect evening! Chyna had met the Littles, but hadn’t been over to Matthew & Camber’s house, so it was fun being able to all get together. Leigh cut up apples and the whole gang went out to feed the next-door neighbor’s horses. Everyone but me that is, horses get nervous around me. Or, is it the other way around? I like to enjoy them from a distance. Not a big deal, I’ve been like this all my life, not about to change now.

A rousing game of Code Names when everyone came back inside. Of course, the newbies to the game, Eli & Chyna, won. I think we’ve got them hooked now, can’t wait til they come see us at the beach!

Chyna surprised us with her unique rendition of our house, prominently displayed in our office on our picture wall.

Shu Shu, the Oklahoma Grandmother, came to our relief about noon on Sunday, so we packed and high-tailed it back to the beach. I think Maezy was ready, she had had enough of the resident fur babies, Birdie & Rosie.

A great weekend was had by all. Can’t wait to be invited back again.
