I got a late start decorating this year, but managed to get everything lit up in anticipation of the WHOLE family arriving for Christmas Eve and the entire day of Christmas. We gathered early in the morning to unwrap presents, ate blueberry muffins (a tradition), and lingered the rest of the morning, then prepared for an early dinner, but forgot to put the sweet potatoes and the broccoli casserole out on the table. Oh well, always makes for good leftovers. The day after Christmas was our traditional trip into Houston for the Nutcracker Ballet. It was the 2 pm matinee, a family tradition for all the girls, we look forward to it every year. We know it like the backs of our hands, but we still follow each performance with awe. This year, plenty of pictures with the performers. It’s Magical!
Alas, Christmas is over and the tree must come down. We couldn’t wait to attack all the other decorations around the house. The tree, when it was up for those few weeks, happens to reside right Smack Dab in the middle of the house, so you can imagine what a treat it is to have the room back to normal. Of course, nothing fits back quite as well as it did when we opened the tubs – there’s always extra to squeeze in somewhere.
We’re looking forward to the New Year, it’s just a few days away. Blessings to you all and best wishes for a wonderful 2014!
GO’s Sand Bucket is only one beach bum’s journal of life at the beach, probably something each of you can relate to. Please feel free to email me with your thoughts, visions and/or feelings of just exactly what the beach means to you.
