Every once in awhile, you will have the great fortune to have three friends that actually get along all of the time. I am that person, Laura and I met in 1979 and Janet came into our group in 1985. Laura and I met at a credit union in the Clear Lake area and became fun friends almost immediately. Our husbands became friends too. Now with that said, this made traveling for work lots of fun. The guys loved to play golf and of course Laura and I just loved going to class while they messed around. We received hi-lights of their day after we were out of class as we were having an afternoon beverage.
Janet and her husband came along when Laura and I moved to a credit union close to downtown. When Pappasito’s did their soft open on the Gulf Freeway, we three couples were there and that started an “every-Friday-after-work-tradition.” Within a year, we had over eight to ten couples meeting us there. I must tell you, there were times the manager was not too pleased with us … We had way too much fun!
During this time, we three couples purchased Houston Oilers tickets together for the season. Sometimes, we carpooled and afterward would head back to Pappasito’s to celebrate or drown our sorrows.
The pictures below are the three of us girls sitting at the bar. What a wonderful thing being friends as long as we have and to still be together through thick and thin. I get a tear in my eyes every time the commercial comes on with tree old ladies full of mischief playing in the snow.
