Team Red White & Blue, Wounded Veterans, and The Texas Shark Fishing organization joined forces this past weekend for a fun-filled, exciting fishing expedition. Team Red White & Blue, promoting the team approach, esprit d’corp, brought their families back to Crystal Beach for their 2nd Annual Shark Fishing trip. Chris Wadell, the Head Volunteer for Houston, along with Dan Cowart of Houston said the group has nearly tripled in size from last summer. Occupying 4 houses in Surfside and adjoining subdivisions, approximately 70 people joined together.
The mission of Team Red White and Blue is to promote a sense of stability, consistency and purpose. RWB is a support foundation for military warriors and heroes. A group of 4 or 5 “freshly wounded” soldiers joined the group this year. In fact, one Army soldier from San Antonio had just been fitted with his prosthetic leg three days prior to coming on the trip.
The Shark Fishing group joining with RWB is a site to behold. Daniel Sherman and the other shark fishermen love to take these ‘heroes’ out in kayaks to fish, or help them snag and bring in one of these huge creatures. They caught and released many sharks and fought and battled for hours to bring in a Tiger Shark, who won the battle, digging in a sand bar and finally breaking the line.
Thank you all, RWB and Texas Shark Fishing for your compassion, inspiration and determination! And thank you to our Heroes, RWB, and to those serving our Country for your never-ending support and dedication!
