We’re planning for Summer Storm 2015. We tied down all the blowing things this morning, laid down the deck chairs, brought all the plants inside and what’s left of the umbrellas we use out on the deck. One of the three met its demise last week in another brutal blast. The flags haven’t been hung since last week – the pitiful old Texas Flag stitched up again, might be a good Father’s Day present. I suggested we bring the kayaks upstairs just in case we need to make a speedy getaway.
I received so many calls today about the weather. One lady asked me about evacuation, she knew that we were under voluntary evacuation, wringing her hands, so afraid, why get so worked up I’m wondering?? Just leave, come back on Wednesday. I remember Gustav- we left … I remember Ike a week later – we left … Sure, you worry about leaving all your possessions, but life is way too valuable to gamble with Mother Nature.
You’d think after going through something like Ike, that we’d be better prepared, that we’d have a plan, we’d know what to grab out of the house to take with us. I guess if it gets really bad, I’ll take Maezy on my kayak and my husband can take Oakley, our daughter’s pet, with him.
Oops, I’d better go find the life jackets before it gets dark.

GO’s Sand Bucket is only one beach bum’s journal of life at the beach, probably something each of you can relate to. Please feel free to email me with your thoughts, visions and/or feelings of just exactly what the beach means to you.
