I can’t tell you which I like most – Spring Forward or Fall Back. I claim to be a farmer, actually gardener, but if you saw my garden you would realize I’m stretching the truth a bit. In reality, the time change, for me, isn’t about gardening at all. I’m just a fan of the time change. I know it’s a challenge for my grand kids. It’s kind of like when the youngest ones come to Texas to visit. Our time zone is an hour earlier, so on arrival it’s great. They want to go to bed earlier and they sleep later in the morning. The challenge is when they have to return home and have to get used to a later time zone. What, time to go to bed already?? We’re not tired!
Before retiring, Fall Back was especially helpful. Arrival for me was 7 am, not too bad to get into that habit, but very helpful when the time would change. Natural waking time would occur earlier, making getting to work on time a piece of cake.
This Sunday, getting ready for church was very easy. Good thing! This was my Sunday to prepare the after-mass snacks. Saturday evening I began preparing some gingerbread muffins from scratch – a recipe I found online. Then, I pulled out the box of blueberry muffin mix, lined the muffin pans with little muffin papers, mixed and baked according to the package, and burned 36 blueberry muffins! Nothing would do, so I had to bake some more. Thank goodness, I had another box of mix in the pantry. Thank goodness, I had an extra hour on Sunday morning, because, it was a cinch, I wasn’t baking any more that night.
And yes, I did take extra credit for bringing fresh warm muffins to church for everyone to enjoy. God is Good!

GO’s Sand Bucket is only one beach bum’s journal of life at the beach, probably something each of you can relate to. Please feel free to email me with your thoughts, visions and/or feelings of just exactly what the beach means to you.
