So Long

By Charlotte Byus
For several years we have discussed leaving the peninsula.  Our reasons were totally health and home oriented. The humidity is very hard on RR’s COPD and the salt and sand has taken a toll on our home on wheels.

Our dream home on the peninsula came into our world in January, 2008 and we were able to sign the papers on our home 22 days before Ike hit.  We sold our home January, 2016 and moved into our home on wheels and by June of that year we were on the road for fun and scenic explorations. Boy did we ever enjoy our time zigzagging up the eastern coast.  Almost four months playing and eating everything in season, including lobster and more lobster.

There are very few clubs and associations we have not joined and loved meeting new members of the community.  I have to say what we loved the most was the Lions Golf Cart Poker Run, just watching how this has helped the children, parents and teachers of our community.  The Bolivar Peninsula Lighthouse Krewe has been so much fun and we will miss dear friends in this club.  Y’all keep making the fun in February!

Just because we will be gone, I plan to keep writing with Tom & Georgia and sharing life as time goes by.  We are still in the Gulf Coast area, just a little closer to our children and grandchildren and doctor’s offices.  Ya know that happens the older you get!

The saddest part of leaving is Mamma Kitty. She adopted us. You see, the RV park was her home, she just allowed us to pet, feed and love on her.  Larry & Brenda Flanagan have adopted her back.  Don’t get me wrong I would have kidnapped her, but she is so old and has never lived anywhere but the park.

As a famous man used to sing, Thanks for the Memories, Love, and Friendship all of you have given our family.  We will see you at Stingaree as I cannot live without my Avocado Delight!

Stay Safe
