Slow Down

By Georgia Osten
Drastically slower pace now that we’re back home. We made the trip home from practically the southern tip of Florida in one day. It’s at least a 14-hour trip no matter how you look at it. We made a slight detour on the way back through Panama City to get out son-in-law to his car – long story, too long. I don’t remember where we were when we decided “let’s go ahead and get home.” We arrived a little after 8pm, just in time to see most of Game 4 of the World Series. Yankees won – Boo – Hiss! I took Wednesday off since I told everyone at work I wouldn’t be back until Thursday anyway. Sure felt good to just stay home after a long trip.

Playing catch up now. Did some shopping in Galveston on Sunday after church and breakfast. BIG Mistake! Lone Star Rally proved to be too much competition for this shopper. Part of Seawall was closed off, so I took back roads to maneuver over to WalMart and Kroger. My plans to visit downtown were shut down when I found most of the Strand area blocked off and nowhere to park to make it to my favorite shops.

I met with a new gardener on Saturday, at least she committed to do something with this awful overgrown mess we have. I haven’t heard back … we’ll see????

My favorite holiday is inching its way into my stress level – As visions of sugar plum fairies cloud my thought processes. Everything will be okay, it’s like eating an elephant, One Bite At a Time!

We’re doing the Nutcracker Market again this year, missed last year. I’m looking forward to more Christmas ideas. Not looking forward to the sore & tired feet, but the fun we have outweighs the pain.

If you’re venturing out and about this Christmas season, be careful. The crowds can get pretty fierce. Just take it slow and remember One Bite At a Time!
