Just when you think you can’t take anymore rain and doom and gloom, the Sun pops out just in time for the weekend.
I genuinely felt so sorry for the Spring Breakers, especially the sweet families who come down to spend the week, just to get away from the city life for awhile. Just down the street from us, a family arrived on Friday night a week ago – nothing but rain and/or drizzle for an entire week. When the rain would let up briefly, you would see them slip out from the “cabin fever” to enjoy their skate boards, bikes and games, and take the dog out for a long walk. Reluctantly, they packed up and left the following Thursday to go back to Tomball. Don’t tell them, but the sun came out the next day.
Feeling the same way, we rejoiced on Saturday when we finally got some 70+ degree temperatures and that bright ol’ ball of warmth graced us with some much needed sunshine. I actually got some gardening done, ripped out the old weeds, a flowering broccoli plant, some “going-no-where” cabbage plants – or maybe they were brussel sprouts? As I said, they were going no where, so I was unable to tell what they were – no matter.
I planted on Sunday in Maezy’s presence – luckily, everything was still there on Monday. Apologies to Maezy, I thought she had dug up my newly planted artichokes a week ago – they’re still there. My husband, in an effort to help me clean up the garden, accidentally raked a couple of the little babies, but we found them and replanted them. Husbands, dogs – what’re you going to do? I think they have all the best intentions.

GO’s Sand Bucket is only one beach bum’s journal of life at the beach, probably something each of you can relate to. Please feel free to email me with your thoughts, visions and/or feelings of just exactly what the beach means to you.
