Excellent overall bite this past week put both night-shift and day-shift trout limits and near limits in anglers boxes. Redfish are starting to show up with plenty of Bulls in the surf and slot reds in the cut. The croaker bite was good for handsized with a few mansized croaker showing up. The flounder were also providing great action for both bay-waders and cut anglers. The expected redfish and bull croaker runs should start by mid-September if not sooner. Get your gear oiled and ready folks!
Speckled Trout
Some really great action in the surf and cut with both night-shift and day-shift anglers connecting.
(Limit: 15 inch minimum for 10 trout with only one 25 inch trout per day allowed as part of your daily limit)
Redfish (Red Drum)
Beginning to pick up with rats, slots, and bulls in the mix.
(Limit: 20 inch minimum to 28 inch maximum for 3 reds per day – one over 28 inch red -plus bonus red- allowed when properly tagged in addition to your 3 fish limit)
Black Drum
Still active with a few bulls still coming in.
(Limit: 14 inch minimum to 30 inch maximum for 5 fish per day with one OVER 52 inches allowed)
Flounder
Good flounder action for both bay-waders and cut anglers.
(Limit: 14 inch minimum for 5 fish per day limit)
Sheepshead
Slow.
(Limit: 15 inch minimum with 5 per day Creel)
Gafftop Catfish
Slow.
(Limit: 14 inch minimum for no limit creel)
Whiting/Croaker
Whiting good- Croaker EXCELLENT.
(No Limits)
Sandtrout/Gulftrout
FOR SOME REASON THE SANDIES AREN’T HERE AS YET!!
(No Limits)
Shark
EXCELLENT SHARK ACTION with good numbers of 5 footer blacktips hitting the beach.
Blue Claw Crab
Plenty of Claws in the cut.
(Limit: 5 inches between points with no berry crabs (females with eggs) allowed)
Stone Crabs
Active near bridge.
(Limit: only right claw may be kept when 2-1/2 inches above first Knuckle)
