August heat is having its way with the pass with near 90 degree waters and insulating weedy conditions. “The dawg days” of summer is upon us. Early and late is key to successful fishing now. Rollover experienced an early run of golden croaker with Bull reds in pursuit recently which hopefully will provide better things to come. Right now, though, night-time is the right time for action under the lights with early morning fishing action for reds, specks, and flounder.
Speckled Trout
Mostly small specks hitting shad, shrimp, or finger mullet around bridge or surf; but a few heavies to 7 lbs being caught on plastics.

Redfish (Red Drum)
Early redfish run occurred Wednesday after golden croaker began showing up.
