Saturday December 4 was an exciting day in Gregory Park. The 2021 Peninsula Sports Park Soccer season came to an end. The day was full of exciting Championship Games, custom Trophies to the Champs and custom Medals for all. Each game was followed by an End of Season Celebration of hot dogs, chips, and cupcakes provided by PSP as an appreciation for Coach and Player participation. Peninsula Sports Park is able to provide local youth sports programs thanks to the support of our community sponsors and local fundraisers such as Party in the Park and the Watermelon Crawl. Team Sponsors are greatly appreciated as their donations enable players get new equipment each season. With the COVID restrictions easing, the Martial Arts program will be reinstated soon and Baseball registration will begin in January. If an instructor can be found, the Dance, Cheer, and Gymnastics program could be restarted as well. These local youth programs would not be able to continue without community support, so, Thank You to everyone who makes this possible.
PSP now has 2 locations for these programs…the Baseball field in Port Bolivar and the practice field and Soccer fields in Crystal Beach at Gregory Park. Both baseball fields are kept manicured by Joel Hernandez’s Tastee Freeze Lawn Service, Alan and Theresa Parker at Peninsula Sanitation keep the portable restrooms clean for the players and spectators, our local county parks department is kind enough to mow the soccer area, and Lynn Mlcak and Ray Huffman kept the soccer fields in great shape as well as overseeing the entire soccer season. As of 2020, Peninsula Sports Park also offers scholarships to all graduating Seniors who have participated in the programs.
