Have you ever looked around to see how much “giving” is going on? It’s really an all year long thing around here. There’s always a benefit happening or a fund raiser or, especially this time of year, parties or organizations gathering toys for kids. The Lighthouse Krewe just had their annual Christmas Dance – admission $10 or a toy. The Lions Club is adopting families again this year, and the ladies from the Cultural Foundation are shopping for clothes and that special toy for a child in the community. The wrapping will begin soon at the Chamber office and the packages will be taken to Crenshaw for distribution. William already has his list of children who need bikes. He’ll be buying them soon, and hopefully, providing a helmet with each bike. It seems like every time you turn around, someone has posted something on Facebook – their kids need bikes this year and they cannot provide for them. Or, someone will come to the Chamber office inquiring how to get in on the toy giveaway.
Often a tragedy will occur – a burned down trailer, a family has lost all they own. That’s when this community pulls together, along with Second Going, to help out those who need help the most. Most recently, free Thanksgiving dinners were served by the Crystal Beach Community Church. This weekend, please plan to come to Tiki for Cheryl’s benefit. Everyone knows Cheryl, from The Big Store, was involved in an automobile accident and hasn’t been able to work while recuperating. What a nice Christmas present for Cheryl and her family…come show your generosity.
Pay It Forward!

GO’s Sand Bucket is only one beach bum’s journal of life at the beach, probably something each of you can relate to. Please feel free to email me with your thoughts, visions and/or feelings of just exactly what the beach means to you.
