Never too old

I’ve known this for quite some time, but sometimes fail to heed the warnings. It’s true, and it’s been brought to my attention from time to time that you’re never too old to learn a thing or two. We always, always must keep our eyes and minds open to what’s going on around us. Let’s face it, a lot of us are not “spring chickens” anymore. Sometimes it’s very easy to just sit back and say, “well, that’s not the way we used to do it.” Or, “back in my day, it was like this.”

I remember one of my greatest challenges was over 20 years ago when I changed careers – I knew nothing of what I was going into, and I had very little guidance. Many mistakes I made, much groveling to try to atone for those mistakes, but, by golly, did I learn from them! And, do you think I ever made them again? I was going to “Heck no,” but that would be a tiny fib. That Old Saying, “You learn from your mistakes” – take it to heart. As we go through life, learning new things keeps us young. Don’t ever be afraid to ask questions, challenge yourself and read up on current events, even though they can be quite confusing and sometimes discouraging.

If you’re in any way internet savvy, if the slightest event challenges you, if you don’t know how to spell a word or you don’t know where “that epidimic” originated, just go Google It. Oops, I meant “epidemic.”

GO’s Sand Bucket is only one beach bum’s journal of life at the beach, probably something each of you can relate to. Please feel free to

email me with your thoughts, visions and/or feelings of just exactly what the beach means to you.
