Russ Berge, Aaron Comeaux and Shannon O’Brien parred the first playoff hole to win the Sunday scramble over Lance Ferguson, Dewey Jones and Mike Comeaux. In spite of the poor play by Mike VanZandt, Will Armstrong’s pitch-in birdie on the first hole and Gary Horn’s booming drives left the most experienced team in the field one shot behind the winners at 2 under par.
The team including standout Senior High Island scholar/athlete Jentry Weisinger, crisp-hitting Eddie Wise, and local golf pro and raconteur Mike Mitchell, finished in fourth place. Mitchell’s game, recently considered DOA, showed signs of life.
