Miss Bee’s Bolivar Buzz

By Shannon Williams
Well, we are down to the last minute getting all ready for Christmas and all of the other holidays that you and yours might celebrate this time of year. I am almost ready, just have to get the Christmas cards out and do a little baking for Christmas Day. Wrapping is just not my favorite thing and I am not one of those that spends hours so everything matches with clever designs for each package. I have done that in the past and it just makes me so sad when it is all destroyed in a split second as we tear open the packages.

This year our grandson is staying with us for a few days before Christmas, so his mother can be with her mother during some medical issues. I decided to try something new…I made a snowman out of packages. One of my dear friends inherited 4 grandchildren when her daughter married. She wanted to make sure that each child got the same number of gifts and most of all keep all of what she had brought straight. She is a big Pinterest fan and saw how to do the snowman package tower. She puts clothes in the bottom one, a toy in the middle and some of their favorite treats in the top. She has one of the more artistic children draw on the faces of each snowman tower, but one time let them all decorate their own faces. I am not a Pinterest person, not that I don’t want to be, I know enough about me that I would spend hours finding things to do, buying the supplies and then, well, have more projects waiting to be done; so I just never started, but get the benefit from friends who share what they find with me.

Another great tip if you have lots of kids or grandkids is to wrap each person’s gifts in a different wrapping paper and don’t put tags on the gifts. They have to look in their stocking to find a piece of wrapping paper to find out which gifts are theirs. This year, my hubby hid the presents he got for me in my craft closet! Not a good plan this time of year. I was good and did not look, but saw that it came from Bed Bath and Beyond, which is great as he only shops at Academy and there is not a whole lot that I want there; but BBB has a whole store of things I would want. I hope that each one of you have a joyful Christmas, it might be different and may not have all of those who we love around the table, but it is still Christmas and a time to celebrate the gifts given to us all in the birth of Jesus.
