It’s officially the beginning of Summer and it feels good! Many of the restrictions from Covid have been lifted and that feels good too! The beach was packed with families and all the beach houses were full, the fireworks went on and on through the night on Sunday. It’s funny how we can fall asleep to them, we must be seasonedLOCALS now.
As a seasoned Local, you realize you need to stock up on groceries, no running back and forth to The Big Store. Heck, you can’t find a parking place anyway, so don’t bother. Besides, the employees of The Big Store look at you funny – like, what in the world are you doing here? Some of them will even say, “What in the world are you doing here?”
I’m always anxious to go back to work (EMS) to find out how their weekend went. I cringe every time I hear a siren. I was surprised, and so were they, that Jeep Weekend was relatively calm. With regard to DPS and the Sheriff’s office, it was NOT calm. Friday night, there were already 86 arrests.
EMS calls were down significantly from last year. They were prepared for the worst, but pleasantly surprised there were so few.
Hopefully, this Memorial Weekend was uneventful, we’ll see.
Enjoy your summer. Remember, it’s only 3 more months and the Peninsula will go back to our sleepy little paradise. After all, it’s good for the economy, it’s what keeps our little paradise thriving and beautiful.
Be safe!
