Who would have imagined that after that TOTAL downpour on Friday night, we would be holding our 1st Annual Texas Crab Festival 5K Fun Run/Walk and Kids K? As the mist came down early Saturday morning, and mud puddles everywhere, over 90 people gathered at one corner of Gregory Park, picking up their packets and pinning on their number bibs. Robin Kasiske and Marlene Mallet planned and organized the entire event. Cocomo Joes provided the T-Shirts with sponsor logos galore on each sleeve and all over the back of the T’s. Sid Jackson and Georgia Osten boarded the “Pace Golf Cart,” which just happened to be the one and only Texas Crab Festival Raffle Golf Cart! Dan Priest commandeered the start of the race and off they went. Runners were cheered along the way by on-lookers, and water was passed out by Remax. The race route weaved in and out of one subdivision into another, out to Hwy 87 in front of Dannay’s and back through another subdivision, finally ending back at the park on Barbados. Little Braydon Perez (age 4) ran the whole way!
