Long anticipated homecoming of our Israel kids. Finally, after 2 years, they’re relocation has come to an end. We were scheduled to meet them at Intercontinental on Saturday at 8:30. So, my husband came up with a plan, “let’s go stay at the Marriott Intercontinental.” I, actually, didn’t know there was such a thing. A hotel at the airport, are you kidding? Sure ‘nuff, there were the signs, why have I never noticed those before?
We got Norrie to come stay with all three doggins, and headed out in two cars to be there at the airport bright and early on Saturday morning.
Strict instructions from the gang, a trip to Chick-fil-a and another to Whataburger. Righto! Well, as it turned out, the boys went in the truck with PawPaw and the girls went in the Traverse with Grandma. BECAUSE, the girls planned a trip to Sam’s, HEB and AT&T on the way home. Anyway, as it turned out, the girls wanted Whataburger and the boys wanted Chick-fil-a, worked out just fine.
But, about our trip to the Marriott … Lovely room, lovely hotel, lovely restaurant. We checked in, checked out the bar and the Old Fashioneds were a hit, I forget who the bartender was, we usually ask their name? But, Jimmy (Littleton, CO), you’re still the best!
Later, dinner! Since our cars were already parked in the garage, we decided to go ahead and eat at the restaurant (attached to the bar). Lovely meal, a burger for me and a buffalo chicken salad for PawPaw. Then, we toured the airport, we went from terminal to terminal on the tram, it’s huge!
Back to the restaurant for dessert, Key Lime and a brownie with chocolate and Blue Bell ice cream and freshly brewed coffee, then off to our room. We slept later than normal, then up for breakfast in the same restaurant. Our evening waitress gave us a $20 off coupon for the next morning. We’re thinking, what must be the cost $$ for the morning, but we enjoyed every minute of it.
Off to the terminal to meet our gang, oh my goodness! It doesn’t get much better than this!
