Galveston Bay Foundation held their 5th Annual “Ladies Casting for Conservation” tournament early Saturday morning. Ladies Casting for Conservation is a women’s one-day fishing tournament held in Crystal Beach, Texas on Bolivar Peninsula. The teams gathered at Steve’s Landing on Friday night for check-in and festivities, then pushed off on Saturday at 6 am to reel in the big catch. The tournament is for everyone, from first time fisherwomen to the seasoned anglers. The lady teams were outfit coordinated with various catchy names like Bait, Bling, and Backlashed; Reel Slick; Fifty Shades of Bay; and Team Triple Tails, to name a few.
The weather was hot and the water was warm as the lady anglers reeled in and presented their fish back at Stingaree Marina for the 1 pm weigh in. The ladies and guests enjoyed food and festivities at Stingaree Down Under after the weigh-in while waiting for the winners to be announced. The crowds gathered to witness the guided and non-guided teams accept their awards.
The fishing teams raised funds for the Galveston Bay Foundation to help preserve, protect, and enhance the natural resources of the Galveston Bay system. Congratulations to all the lady anglers.
