Josephine

As I sit here at my computer, and gaze out the window, I can’t help but be a bit distracted about the fact that my window blinds are terribly dusty and dirty. It’s okay, I’m over it. Now, back to my story. I’ve been thinking about our recent whimsical purchase, our Jeep. We call her Jo, which is short for Josephine. Shortly after we got Jo, a ’95 Wrangler, our kids gave us a gift certificate to use for goo-ga’s for her. We removed the console so I could replace the fake Naugahyde, bought the fabric and now I’m trying to remember where I put it. We bought carpeting, thinking we’d remove the seats and just start over on jazzing her up. We purchased the carpeting from Stock Interiors and, as the instructions told us, we removed the carpeting from the box to let the carpeting sit out to relax in room temperature so it would be easier to install. This was back in December. Since then, the carpeting rested on one of the beds in one of our spare rooms. Guests were to arrive, so the carpeting went to the floor on one side of the bed, where it’s resided for the past 5 months.

Lately, my husband and I were discussing how we’d really like to have Jo’s floors sprayed with some type of truck bed coating instead. It’s okay, we decided we could sell the carpeting on Ebay or something. Just for the heck of it, I called the manufacturer to see if they would accept a return and lo and behold, they told us they would.
Now, the delimma of getting all this “relaxed” carpeting back into the shipping box. It’s all good, called UPS and we should be seeing Aaron soon.

Next “Present” for Jo will be manufactured steps. You see, I’m a bit height challenged and it’s not easy, practically impossible for me to get into my vehicle. For easy access, I carry a little step stool with a string tied to it. Sometimes, if I’m only going to be in the store or the post office for a “short” time, I leave the step stool out by the side of the jeep, too lazy to pack it away. It’s always there when I get back … Jo keeps an eye out for things like that.

GO’s Sand Bucket is only one beach bum’s journal of life at the beach, probably something each of you can relate to. Please feel free to email me with your thoughts, visions and/or feelings of just exactly what the beach means to you.
