Jason Pettit and Michael Comeaux tied for first place in the Inaugural Bolivar Peninsula Championship Saturday at the Ranch. Pettit had three birdies on his way to a 40-40 round while Comeaux eagled number 9 to finish 38-42. Surprising Wes Weisinger tied for second place with Shannon O’Brien at 83. Mike VanZandt had an 84 and Dewey Jones finished at 85. Garry Korry edged son Brian 93-98.
Michael Comeaux and Wes Weisinger got lucky in the draw for the Three Man Team Championship, pulling head golf pro Mike Mitchell as their third player. Mitchell, despite shooting a horrific 92, made several key putts, helping his team score on the few holes on which Comeaux and Weisinger faltered. Mitchell’s golf game has seen somewhat of a resurgence in the last few weeks. Second place team consisted of Mike VanZandt, Jentry Weisinger, and Dewey Jones. Jason Pettit, Garry Korry and Tommy Johnson took third place, while Shannon O’Brien, Brian Korry, and Sonny Wong finished a whopping 16 strokes back at 177.
