Highway 87 Renamed

Revealing…the Jane Long Memorial Highway! The main highway traveling through the Peninsula is now named after the “Mother of Texas”, Jane Long. There are two signs noting the honor, one near the ferry landing and one near the intersection of Highway 124 at High Island.

 

 

County and local dignitaries on hand to witness the unveiling of the sign renaming Highway 87 to the Jane Long Memorial Highway. Lee Crowder is pulling the rope.
