(May-29-2012) Another fantastic weekend! The young folks came to visit this weekend, they filled the house with laughter and noise. We set up the canopies early Saturday morning before they arrived, because if you happened to venture down to the beach this weekend, you realized how necessary it was to “claim your spot.” Throngs of campers, families, young and old with their jet skis, boogie boards, paddle boards – you name it. We were all out there to soak up the beautiful sunshine, romp in the water, and yes, rake the seaweed. Oh well, seaweed just happens, it’s a beach thing and it didn’t seem to slow anyone down.
Just a sidenote, my husband likes to go out in the water and pick up the fresh seaweed to see what’s living in it. Shrimp – yes, little crabs – yes, and this time he found a beautiful 3 inch long sargasom fish, so camoflaged, you could barely pick it out amongst the seaweed.
And who could forget washers – I love that game! Watch out, I have a little over a month to hone my skills. The big $500 grand prize for the winner of the Washer Tournament on the beach at Sandpiper subdivision. Be there, I challenge you!
Thanks to our special friend who brought 4 new friends with her and taught me a new way to cook corn on the cob, steamed in the microwave, Yummmm. Thanks to my “new best friend” who came to sit, chat and “people-watch” with us on the beach. Thanks to my washer friends (Katie, my partner in the upcoming tournament), my family who just moved in down the beach … wow, what a perfect weekend!
