The time changes March 13th, Spring Break is right around the corner, Crab Fest and Frog Fest are getting closer and we’re busier than ever. I’ve begun tackling the long-ignored gardens in an effort to get things ready for planting. Mulching the front gardens took place this weekend. I’ll eventually make my way to the back where my vegetable garden sits forlornly. Last year – no bees, no pollination, no fruit! The only thing produced was okra, which I still have plenty of in my freezer. That won’t stop me from trying it again. Maybe I’ll self-pollinate or maybe I’ll see if Mary will sell me a beehive. I’m always a bit apprehensive, afraid of what might be hibernating underneath the decorative driftwood I have lying out there. Frogs and toads are okay, just don’t want to be surprised by anything else.
Our church schedule has changed, the priests can’t come over on Sunday anymore, so they changed our mass to Saturday nights. Now, that’s going to take some getting used to. Saturdays at 6pm are usually tear-down time from the beach, getting cleaned up and getting ready for barbeque or whatever we’ve planned for the evening. We’ll just have to adjust.
Some things don’t change though. I got a call from the oldest granddaughter last week, asking if it was okay if she and 4 of her friends come down for a few nights. Oh my goodness, I long for the mountains of sheets and towels and sandy bathing suits. That’s the reason we moved down to the beach. It’s why I buy graham crackers, marshmallows and Hershey’s chocolate. It’s why PawPaw spends a fortune on fire works. And, most importantly, I’ll have an extra 5 people captive to play games with on into the night!

GO’s Sand Bucket is only one beach bum’s journal of life at the beach, probably something each of you can relate to. Please feel free to email me with your thoughts, visions and/or feelings of just exactly what the beach means to you.
What a wonderful grandma you are! How wonderful to have young people come to visit but it really says a lot that they love being around you. How nice of Tom to do fireworks for them. The kids love that. Have fun!
Your cup runneth over!! And that’s why we love that you have a beach house…to come home and have someone else do our laundry and cooking!!! Love you and see you soon!!!
