At the regular meeting on September 17, Galveston County Emergency Services District #2 approved their budget for the 2018-2019 fiscal year. The $2.575M budget allocates $1.9M to fund the Peninsula Medical Services, with the remainder to fund the operations of ESD and the three Volunteer Fire Departments. This budget is based on the projection of sales tax revenue, and ad valorem tax collections on the estimated $1,205B in property values on the peninsula. The ad valorem tax rate will be a slight reduction from last year.
