Summary: Redfish took the limelight this past week with solid runs of reds to 44inches. Golden Croaker ran second with plenty of tasty fish filling those fish fry coolers. Specks slipped to 3rd position with catches of 15 to 18inch trout with a few 25inchers. Flounder began showing along the bulkheads again with anglers catching 14 to 20inchers.
Speckled Trout: Slow but active with keepers to 25inchers caught at night and during the morning. Surf action is sporadic at best. Bay waders picking up a few keepers (Size limits 15-to 25inches for 10 specks with only one over 25inches per day as part of the daily limit).
Redfish: Although “THE REDFISH RUN” is beginning it’s not however in full swing as yet – but when the action is HOT it is HOT!! (20inches to 28inches for 3 reds, with one over 28inches when tagged in addition to the 3 fish daily slot-limit).
Flounder: Beginning to pick up with the smaller males coming thru with anglers catching keeper females- from 14 to 20 inches on the bay side bulkheads. (Limit- 14inches minimum for 5 flounder per day).
Black Drum; Plenty of drum action for those keeper eater sizes with a few large BULLS coming in as well. REMEMBER- ALL drum under 14inches and over 30inches MUST be released. ( Limits- 5 per day at 15- 30 inches).
Sand/Gulf Trout : Gulf trout starting their Fall run into the bay with some nice 1 to 2-lbers being caught on both sides of the cut. (No limits).
Whiting/Croaker : Both whiting and croaker are HOT right now with large BULL whiting and 8 to 12 inch Golden Croaker keeping anglers happy. (No Limits).
Crabbing : Blue Crab Size/Limits- must be 5 inches across carapace (point-to-point). No creel limits- BUT ALL SPONGE CRABS (egged females) MUST BE RELEASED.
Stone Crabs: Right claw only is kept if two are present- Stones with but one claw must be released- Right claw must be 2-1/2 inches from the knuckle before being kept.
