Summary: Another great week at the pass with both day and night anglers boxing impressive limits of specks. Lots of skipjack action with a few Spanish Macks added to the melee. Good runs of flounder kept bayside anglers happy as well as reds, golden croaker, drum, and trout. Bay waders enjoyed catching flounder, specks, and reds BUT surf waders took mega-specks to 8 lbs. Golden croaker are starting their long awaited run early so the Fall red run shouldn’t be far behind.
Speckled Trout – GREAT speck action for day and night anglers catching impressive limits of specks. Speckled trout fishing here at the pass has been nothing but phenomenal this year with good numbers of large quality specks being landed, with some egg laden trout being released. (Size/Limits-15 inches to 25 inches for 10 specks with one 25 incher per day when added as part of the daily limit)
Redfish – Good catches of slot reds in cut with some 35 inch to 44 inch Bulls coming from the surf. (Size/Limits-20 inches to 28 inches for 3 reds with one over 28 inches when tagged in addition to the 3 fish daily slot limit)
Flounder – Really good flounder action for both gulf and bayside anglers with a 24 inch doormat reported. (Size/Limit- 14 inches minimum for 5 flounder per day)
