Filling Santa’s Sleigh at the Christmas Market

While recovering from the chaos of Black Friday and with full bellies from Thanksgiving leftovers, shoppers ventured out to the Pavilion at Festival Park on Saturday to explore the Bolivar Christmas Market. As the rain came down, 30 booths of arts, crafts, handmade items and unique gifts were on display under cover. Although the weather outside was frightful, shoppers were happy to get out and help fill Santa’s sleigh. The Pavilion was festively decorated for Christmastime with a huge tree, a large nutcracker soldier, and lots of lights and garland. As guests entered they were given a booth map to have initialed as they visited each vendor, and prizes were awarded.

And when the shoppers got hungry, Leslie Lowe and Family served up some delicious food, with proceeds going to Peninsula Sports Park. The Bolivar Christmas Market was also a ’Shop Hop’ location supporting Small Business Saturday.

Santa visited from the North Pole at 4:30 pm and took the stage for the little ones to tell him what they wanted for Christmas. The Grinch attempted to steal Christmas, but thankfully, the holiday cheer kept him under control. As darkness fell, the 33 foot Christmas Tree was lit and will remain lit at night until the end of the year.

The Christmas Festival was brought to you by Texas Crab Festival Charities and Bolivar Peninsula Tourism and Visitors Center. All proceeds raised are going to the Texas Crab Festival Charities.
