Galveston Island Nature Tourism Council announces FeatherFest 2014 online registration. The FeatherFest website is updated with all of the 2014 Birding & Photography Field Trips and Workshops so you have plenty of time to plan your itinerary! You’ll want to check out some of our new FeatherFest events for 2014 – Ready, Set, Go! – Big Day Birding Adventure, FledglingFest, FeatherFest’s Most Wanted, and a pre-festival field trip to the Katy Preserve Conservancy!
With more than 100 field trips, workshops and social events, you will have plenty to choose from at FeatherFest 2014. Don’t miss one of the largest birding festivals in Texas, and one of the few with a dedicated nature photography track.
Galveston is one of the top locations for birding in the nation, and FeatherFest is held during early spring migration – a great time to visit world-renowned birding hot spots like Bolivar Flats and High Island. There will be something for everyone at FeatherFest 2014, whether you’re a novice or an experienced outdoor lover. Expert-led excursions by bus and boat will visit a variety of habitats, from beaches to bays, bay marshes to wetlands, and coastal prairies to upland wood motts. On April 12, FeatherFest Saturday, kids and their grown-ups can experience our first FledglingFest – four separate activities for ages 6 and up including a birding workshop, a field trip by bus, an outing by boat and a free raptor show!
