It has been very hard for our family since the middle of March. We normally see our daughters or grandchildren at least every other weekend. Dianne calls every Wednesday, used to be on her way home from work in the medical center, but now it is still Wednesday, but at any time she can after her work day ends at home. Rene’ calls on her way home from work at least once a week to make sure we don’t need something from the store.
Rob and I decided we would have a family get together a few weeks ago on this past weekend. This will cover a High School Graduation, Two Birthdays and three for Father’s Day. (I already have my speech ready before our family prayer.) And RR has spent all day smoking ribs, tomorrow morning we will fix the hamburger patties, sausages and fixin’s for the burgers. The girls are bringing the sides and a desert.
I have reserved our pavilion and pool area for the day so the kids will have fun and work up an appetite before lunch. We were having seventeen but now we are down to fourteen, as two need to work and one was unable to attend.
Last weekend Josh, our Birthday Boy came over to take us fishing. We had such a wonderful time. We did not catch any fish, as the night before was a full moon, but a fish caught us, it flew into the boat. I guess we should have gone for crabs and they would have been full with delicious meat.
Rene’, Josh’s Mom, came over Saturday and she and I went to the point with our fishing poles. We both took our licenses, as we watch Lone Star Law and don’t want a ticket from Jennifer, our game warden. But we did not take a bait bucket, nor pliers, or a towel to handle said fish. RR let us go by ourselves and we were truly a comedy team! At one point, Rene’ let out a scream “MOM, something is getting me!” Ok, why are you standing in the water? What is around your feet? “MOM, it is still biting me!” OK, what is around your feet? “Oh, MOM, it is a crab!” “No wait it is three baby crabs!” Well get out of the water. I must tell you it went downhill from there. The guys on the other side of us at the point could not fish for laughing. When all was said and done, Rene’ fed the little crabs her left over shrimp.
