It didn’t take our Florida family long to decide where to evacuate. They jumped in both cars, picked up PawPaw from the airport in Tampa and headed back home to Texas. Once they hit the beach, after a first night in freshly made beds, it was time to go to Friendswood to watch The Littles play ball. We have a couple of ball players on the injured list, but it didn’t stop Riggs from hitting everything pitched to him. He then took a stab at pitching, good thing he’s a righty, his left arm took the fracture. Our Florida ball player broke his right thumb, ER trip for him right before his long ride to Texas. Thank goodness for waterproof casts, none have missed any time in the pool and/or hot tub.
Saturday, our two Florida boys participated in the kids’ fishing tournament at Stingaree. Dax is twelve so his fish qualified, Michael (14) fished anyway. I think each of them could have qualified for “smallest hardhead,” but they didn’t bother turning them in. Great fun was had by all!
Aunt Leigh joined us on Saturday, and we all spent the rest of Saturday enjoying the beach. The boys continued fishing from the beach, talking PawPaw into buying them some fresh bait. Dax needed both hands, so unfortunately, his cast on his left hand ended up smelling a bit fishy/shrimpy and disgusting. We had Perfect weather and not too many tourists. A perfect Fall Day, my favorite season.
By Sunday, Kelly and kids knew when school was going to open back up. Their school is on Tampa Bay. Tampa Bay drained with the storm, that’s what kept Tampa from flooding. They found out their power was restored on Saturday, so they were ready to head back on Sunday morning. Their drive home was a bit risky with stories we heard about gas shortages, but all went well. Thirteen hours later, they made it home and had Monday to recuperate all day before returning to school on Tuesday.
I spent the whole day laundering sheets and took a few naps myself.
Praying there are no more hurricanes this year. Especially because we have our trip planned out to visit them at the end of this month.
Until we talk again next week, get outdoors and enjoy this wonderful weather.
