Horses have an inate ability to mirror the characteristics and emotions of people around them and are effective as a positive interactive learning tool. Horses can influence people in powerful ways, and the use of horses is gaining popularity with the rise of Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and Equine Assisted Learning (EAGALA). Members of Stable-Spirit in Beaumont were at Crystal Corral last week to demonstrate the effects of practicing the EAGALA model as an effective problem-solving and life skills resource. Erinn Berge of Crystal Corral, along with Executive Director, Katie Durio and Equine Specialists, Michea Ford and Fawn Blohm of Stable-Spirit, gave an hour long EAGALA demonstration to members of the Bolivar community, as well as visitors from Galveston ISD and UTMB. Stable-Spirit provides cutting-edge training and development opportunities to companies, groups, individuals, and schools. Leadership, team building, communication skills, problem solving and confidence are just a few qualities that are enhanced when using the model. The mission statement for Stable-Spirit is to provide opportunities to the community that inspire positive mental, emotional and physical health through professionally guided interaction with horses.
