The dedication of the new Bolivar Peninsula Special Utility District (BPSUD) building was held on February 23rd. The ribbon cutting was attended by dozens of Peninsula residents. The building was dedicated to honor past board member Mr. Al Altemus, who passed away in October 2010. Mr. Altemus served on the District Board of Directors for 26 years.

Lynette Johnson-Hardcastle, President of the Board of Directors, read the tribute to Mr. Altemus’ dedicated service to the water company, and presented a plaque to be placed on the building, named appropriately, The Al Altemus Building. Unveiling the plaque were his son, David Altemus, and daughter, Bunny Gallaher.

Lynette and George Strong, VP of the Board of Directors, cut the ribbon. Chamber of Commerce board member, Tom Osten, was also in attendance.

Jo Ball, General Manager, and office staff, Susan Guidry, Barbara Cowie & Diana Guidry gave visitors a tour of the building, the spacious offices and well-appointed boardroom. Mr. Altemus’ great grandson, Nicholas Swift, pulled the winning tickets for the drawing for door prizes.
