Noticeable from the highway are the many mounds of dirt at the new Texas Crab Festival grounds. The festival folks are working hard to improve the property for the next festival, and beyond. After the huge rainstorms that turned the 2019 festival into a sloppy mess, the crew knew improvements were necessary. “Drainage is very important,” says Dennis Rollfing, site coordinator for Festival Park, “and this year we learned where our problem areas are.” They are moving and spreading over 200 truckloads of dirt to help level the low spots and contour the grounds for better drainage, especially in the parking lots. Dennis also has plans to revise traffic flow into the parking areas, and reassign vendor parking in order to minimize traffic inside the venue. “This is a work in progress, and we will continue to develop this park into a first rate facility,” added Dennis.
Be sure to come out to next year’s Texas Crab Festival – May 8-10, 2020.
