Cool Cats

By Linda Elissalde
To be a Cool Cat was very complimentary in the 1950s
Anthony Asta, with help from granddaughter Sara, organized a 65th reunion of some of Mr. Asta’s St. Anthony High School class of 1959 members. Eleven graduates, along with three spouses and one relative, gathered at Bruno’s Italian Kitchen on August 17, 2024. The room resounded with excited voices as friends greeted, hugged and caught up on events that happened after their 60th class gathering.

Everyone was having so much fun that it took a while to get folk seated to enjoy Bruno’s fine food choices. Waiter Alfredo was a 5 star server as he managed to handle orders, drinks and bills with calm graciousness. The only silence occurred during the blessing of food and friends. Then all started talking again. A delightful afternoon closed with thanks to Anthony and Sara for their efforts in creating this lovely get-together. Of course, the next question was, “Shall we have a 70th reunion?”

Sixty-five years have passed since these individuals were youngsters, but time has not erased their spirits. They are still, in the vernacular of that time, definitely, “COOL CATS”!
