Captain Bryan’s Fishing Report, 7-28-2020

By Captain Bryan Brawner
Despite some tough bay conditions we were able to put together a good box of decent size specks on the days we went out last week. The trout are active but scattered on mid bay reefs when the water is not dirty. Live shrimp under a popping cork have worked the best when they are available. The jetties and west bay have continued to be good for trout and reds on weekdays when the weather permits going there. We missed the floods this time so I expect the trout to continue to filter back into East Bay for a good fall. Shrimp are also returning to the bay in larger numbers which is great for the fishery.

The poor water conditions have been right up the alley for those that wade fish on south shoreline areas as they have continued to catch fish with higher tide levels. This has been a good year for them. Also when the southwest winds blow, the surf has been good early for waders.

For those that have taken my class, take advantage of your included support now before planning your next trip as fishing will continue to be challenging the next several days with the weather and wind changes.

I have some weekdays still open toward the end of August and September and also some opportunities for classes. On the Water Classes are the Best time you will ever invest in to improve your fishing success for the long haul! I have added some special features this year!

Fall is booking up now with prime days for some of the best fishing of the year still available.

This time of year we can run trips where the whole family can be successful with a large variety of fish. Email for questions and availability. Now is the time to book an East Bay Class with the prime fishing just around the corner.

For exact fishing locations and techniques, I am conducting one-on-one classes of the Galveston East Bay System. We will spend a half-day trip exploring that bay and the techniques and timing of fishing there. Bring your hand-held GPS and a map and note pad and I will further your knowledge of the bay and patterns for fishing in all of the seasons of the year. These classes include everything from locations to tackle and lure selection; thus have a lot of content. So, I limit them to 2 persons max at a time. Call 409-256-1265 for more information. We cover a lot of area and burn a lot of gas.

Text or call 409-256-1265 for availability of trips and to reserve your fishing adventure. You can also e-mail me [email protected] for updated fishing conditions and trip availability.
