There’s always so much to do – decorating, shopping, baking, parties, you name it. We went to our annual event, The Nutcracker Ballet, yesterday. We decided to try The Grand in Galveston and The Original Mexican Restaurant for lunch before the ballet. A bit less hectic than fighting our way to downtown Houston Jones Hall, which is what we’ve done for more years than I can remember. Tears in my eyes at the finale, so you could say that I enjoyed every minute of the performance.
As we get closer to Christmas, try to stay focused on the true meaning of Christmas. In church yesterday morning, I noticed someone had put up a tree and the nativity set and the poinsettias were aligned perfectly. They had failed to use the silver decorative branches I donated, so my friend arranged them in a beautiful vase in front of the lectern after mass. I asked Father if he liked all the stuff, and he assured me he liked “all the stuff.” “You’re a bit premature on the Three Wise Men though, they need to be put away for now.” Baby Jesus was not displayed, so we were accurate on that fact.
As you hustle around frantically to be prepared – take time out to stop and realize the true significance of the season. It is a time of God showing his great love for us, a time to rejoice. Invite Jesus into your heart – You will then have a “Merry Christmas.”

GO’s Sand Bucket is only one beach bum’s journal of life at the beach, probably something each of you can relate to. Please feel free to email me with your thoughts, visions and/or feelings of just exactly what the beach means to you.
