Don’t ever come around me and tell me you’re bored, I will put you to work in a New York second! It seems there’s always a project. I know it’s too hot out there for some projects, but there’s always something to do, especially around my house. Some outdoor projects are necessary and not too bad if they involve water. Like watering the garden or washing the car, anything to do with water, as long as you can spray it on yourself when the mood hits you.
One of my indoor projects is ironing pillowcases. I can’t tell you what satisfaction I have in putting ironed pillowcases on a freshly made bed. I will not pull out the ironing board to merely iron a blouse or something, but after guests and washing bedding from several beds, there’s nothing more relaxing than ironing pillowcases.
Sunday, I had my ice-tea ready, sat down to watch something on TV like Hallmark or HGTV, when my sweet neighbor came over for visit. She found out it was my birthday and she baked some cookies to bring to me. You know what, I really enjoyed catching up with her! Ever since COVID, we haven’t had too many visits from non-family members that is. The summer has been jam-packed with company, family that is, and we’ve enjoyed every minute of it.
Pleasant SURPRISE visit from my oldest and her husband and their friends. Dinner at Steve’s, bundt cakes for my birthday, and a crazy game of Mexican Train. Lounging in the pool the next morning and champagne, until they had to be on their way home to prepare for Hurricane Ida. A Whew from us, but poor Louisiana. We sure know what that’s like, don’t we?
Speaking of projects, let me close this story for now, I’ve got some painting to do. There’s never a dull moment.
