We received fair warning, you just never know how bad it’s going to be. The electricity went out sometime in the early morning the day after Valentine’s Day. Good thing we cancelled our “date night” at the Tremont. We also cancelled the dinner reservations for Salt Water Grill. We would have been stranded over there. The partial house generator came on as expected, a little sluggish, pulled down by the heater. We were snug in the “partial” covered by our generator. Until my husband got up to start a cup of coffee, too much, the generator shut off. He powered down a few circuits and restarted the generator, good news, we were in business. Then SUD shut down the water, geez.
It’s okay, we’re layered up and staying somewhat warm if we don’t roam through the house.
All this reminds me of our first house we purchased in Sugar Land, a little two bedroom, 1 bath located in The Hill. It was already 50 years old back then, one of the Sugar Company homes. There was no central air/heat, one heater in the fireplace. We were told by the owner that would be enough to heat the whole house. NOT!
I remember ALWAYS being layered up, we even wore our stocking caps to bed. Fond memories, we survived! Just like we’ll survive this.
