It’s pretty nice when an event comes along that we’re NOT involved in, it doesn’t happen too often. I felt relief when the Crab Fest was over, but on its heels, came the Frog Fest. I have to admit, if I’m supposed to be involved in something, let it be the beer booth. There’s something about the fun of it all and the fun people I get to work with. We’re all rather serious about the rules, knowing the consequences if something should go wrong, but we have a really good time. Everyone knows if things calm down in the booth, there’s no problem in stepping out to have a sit and a brewski. No problem to pop back up and join in when things get hopping again.
It’s amazing how I never lack for volunteers to work in the beer booth. That’s where everyone wants to be – long hours on your feet, but the action never stops. As I look around and realize the Chamber Golf Tournament is in less than a week, I’m confident enough people are running it and it will be a success. The golf course needs to dry out a bit, but it looks like we have plenty of sunshiny days to make that happen.
I hope you all stay in touch with everything that goes on in this tiny community all year long. We have an exciting summer coming up and there’s never a lack of volunteer opportunities – it feels good to get involved. I’m looking forward to a summer filled with family and friends. I’m looking forward to some friendly washer competition on the beach, hot dogs and s’mores. I’m especially looking forward to cracking some crabs under the house (look out Joe’s), corn-on-the-cob, lots of beer, and some blackberry cobbler.
BON APPÉTIT Ya’ll!
