Surprises, Skill, and Community Support

A Memorable Event
The Second Annual Dabney Harrison Memorial Golf Tournament, sponsored by Seaside Lumber, was held this past weekend at the Ranch Golf Course. Kicking off on Friday night, the atmosphere was set with a spirited Calcutta, building anticipation for the main event. On Saturday at 9:00 am, under overcast skies and a slight breeze, 28 golfers teed up on the course that was still wet after two days of rain.

Competing for the top prize of $1000, there was an exciting twist as a lucky golfer stood a chance to win $25,000 with a hole-in-one on #3. Surprisingly, luck struck even before the initial shot when a golfer, getting ready on the first tee, found his lost wedding ring stuck in the finger of his golf glove.

Throughout the tournament, the beverage cart ensured that thirst was quenched, and BBQ sandwiches at the turn kept the energy high. The competition ended in a thrilling three-way tie at 6 under, leading to an exciting tie-breaking shootout. The proceeds from the event will contribute to continued maintenance of this popular peninsula golf course.

A heartfelt thanks were extended to all the volunteers, sponsors, and players for making this event a great success.
