Young Anglers Make Waves at Stingaree Marina
The 2024 Hardhead Haul-In, part of the Saltwater Slam Fishing Tournament, brought together young anglers for a day of fun and friendly competition at Stingaree Marina. With beautiful sunny weather setting the stage, over 100 excited kids lined the dock, rods in hand, ready to make their catch. Participants fished from 8:30 to 10:30 am, aiming to reel in the heaviest hardhead catfish for trophies and cash prizes. Special awards were also given for the heaviest non-hardhead fish and the smallest fish caught. For many kids, this was their first fishing experience, made even more memorable with a free rod, reel, and t-shirt.

The weigh station buzzed with excitement as little anglers rushed over to record their catches, representing 11 different species of fish. One youngster even hauled in an impressive 33 lb drum, raising the stakes and thrilling the crowd.

In addition to the competitive prizes, five lucky participants won a lifetime Texas fishing license, adding an extra layer of excitement to the awards ceremony. A big thank you to the generous sponsors and community supporters who made this event possible. The kids left with smiles, proud catches, and memories that will last a lifetime.
