The Return of the Beach Boys

By Georgia Osten
PawPaw met them at the bus stop on Friday and they headed to the beach for the weekend. It’s always a grand time when the Grands are visiting. The pool was clean and ready and so was the hot tub. No lack of activities to keep them busy, not to mention the ever-loving beach! The boys could play forever at the washout, in the surf or just digging in the sand for treasures.

The Saturday morning ritual – Dannays!. The boys were up and ready at 6am. They never forget to bring Grandma a cinnamon roll. No, it’s not on the diet, but very welcome and yummy.

Before we returned the boys on Sunday, we all met at Chuys in town to celebrate PawPaw’s Birthday. Lizzy’s Sweets made a wonderful carrot cake that I secretly picked up on Saturday and hid up at the Station in their fridge. The available family showed up to celebrate, and Leigh’s favorite waiter, Joel, took excellent care of us.

Oh, these hurricanes, what’s up!?! Son-in-law, Paul, is cooking with Operation BBQ Relief (https://operationbbqrelief.org/) in North Carolina for those poor displaced souls. Our Florida family, daughter, 3 grandkids and family canine, loaded their cars and started the trek “home” after they picked up PawPaw from the Tampa airport on Monday. Florida son-in-law, Michael, is on an extended trip out of the country. Unfortunate timing on the hurricane’s part!

Anyway, that’s why there was no Crystal Beach Local News published Tuesday morning.

All is well as we speak. The Florida crew made it “home” to the beach just about an hour ago, a 17-hour trip and overnight stay just this side of Tallahassee. We’ll sit tight and watch what the storm does and give thanks our people are with us safe and sound.

Prayers for Florida as they brace themselves for what looks like a terribly nasty storm.
